NEWTON, MA - St. Joe's split a twinbill with GNAC opponent Lasell College on Saturday, 4-8 and 4-1. SR Megan Farrell (Abington, MA) hit a three-run home run in the game one loss. FY Kiera Walsh (Benton, ME) threw a complete game gem and struck out 6 batters to earn the victory in game two. The Lady Monks are now 8-6 overall and 3-1 in GNAC play.

GAME ONE

Lasell College jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after FY Ashley Laramie (Lynn, MA) connected with a 3-run home run and SR Laura Gallagher (Westwood, MA) followed with a solo shot. Farrell's 3-run blast in the top of the third closed the Lasell lead to 4-3, but Laramie hit another 3-run bomb in the bottom of the inning to give Lasell a 7-3 advantage. JR Alysn Ludwig (Waldoboro, ME) scored on a SO Liddy van der Linden groundout after SO Jillian Kimball (Albany TWP, ME) moved her to third with a double to complete the SJC scoring in the 8-4 loss.

GAME TWO

Megan Farrell led off the top of the second inning with a double and SO Kayla Soucy (Colebrook, NH) followed with a single before FY Ellen Neff (Chester, VT) doubled to send both of them home to provide the Lady Monks with a 2-1 lead.

St. Joe's would add insurance runs in the top of the fifth inning when SO Anna Willis (Gorham, ME) singled and was driven home by a Kimball triple. Kimball later scored on a Kayla Soucy groundball to give St. Joe's a 4-0 lead.

The run support would prove to be more than enough as SJC starting pitcher Kiera Walsh kept the Laser hitters in check, allowing one earned run, 4 walks and 5 hits in the complete game victory to help the Lady Monks earn the split and notch her 5th win of the season.

Jillian Kimball and Liddy van der Linden both had two hits in the SJC victory.
