STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph’s College outfielder Danyelle Shufelt ’13 (Sutton, VT/Lyndon Institute) has received GNAC Rookie of the Week honors.
Shufelt enjoyed an outstanding week, as the freshman right fielder and lead-off hitter hit .600 (12-20) with nine runs to help the Monks post a perfect 6-0 record. She recorded at least two hits in five of the games and is currently on a 10-game hitting streak.
Through 18 games for the 13-5 Monks, Shufelt is hitting .415 (22-53) with 16 runs scored and three stolen bases in three attempts. Defensively, she has yet to make an error in 11 chances and has three outfield assists.
Saint Joseph’s (13-5, 6-0 GNAC) will host Norwich University in a GNAC doubleheader on Friday at 3:30 PM.
