SJC Alpine Retains Ricker Cup, Features Eight Skiers on All-Division Teams

STANDISH, Maine – The 2022 United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) Reynolds Division postseason accolades have been released and eight Saint Joseph's College alpine skiers have captured honors.

For the women, sophomores Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) and Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) and freshman Madelyn Zordan (New Hartford, Conn.) have earned First Team All-Division awards while sophomore Maeghan Perkins (Turner, Maine) and senior Sarah Hotchkiss (New Durham, N.H.) have claimed Second Team All-Division honors.

For the men, sophomore Liam Strobeck (Charlotte, Vt.) has collected First Team All-Division accolades while second-years Caleb Gorton (Goffstown, N.H.) and Aidan Wolfinger (Bedford, N.H.) are listed on the Second Team.

In her first season at Saint Joseph's, Pingree dominated the Reynolds Division by winning seven of the league's eight races and eclipsed the individual field with 722 total points, 156 more than the second finisher, Sarah Bassett of Colby College.

Zordan also made a big impression in her first year as a Monk and finished third in the Reynolds Division standings with 363 points after posting five top-five performances, including a runner-up effort in the panel slalom at Titcomb last weekend and a pair of third-place efforts on the season.

Irvin, the top finisher in the Reynolds Division last winter, claims First Team honors for the second-consecutive season after notching 292 points, the fourth-highest total in the 2022 standings. Irvin posted one runner-up finish, a third-place performance, and a fourth-place effort this winter.

Perkins, who missed the entire 2021 season with an injury, tallied 202 points after registering a pair of fifth-place finishes during her first year of competition. Hotchkiss earns Second-Team All-Division acclaim for the second year in a row with 198 points, the eighth-highest mark in the league this winter.

Strobeck topped the men's ledger with 579 total points, 70 ahead of UMaine-Farmington's Simon Spear, to earn First Team All-Division honors for the second time in as many seasons. The second-year standout won three races and finished as the runner-up in three others this winter.

Gorton and Wolfinger take home Second Team All-Division mention for the second-consecutive season after placing seventh (243 points) and ninth (209) in the Reynolds standings, respectively. Gorton registered a pair of top-five finishes, including a third-place effort, during his second collegiate campaign while Wolfinger recorded a pair of top-five efforts during the regular season.

Saint Joseph's, led by fourth-year Head Coach Margot Cosentino, capped the 2022 USCSA regular season by capturing the coveted Ricker Cup - awarded annually to the top combined men's and women's program in the USCSA Reynolds Division - for the second-consecutive season. The SJC women's team won all eight events this winter while the Monks' men won two events and placed second three times on the season.

The SJC women finished the regular season atop the Reynolds Division standings for the second-straight season after logging the lowest-possible total of eight points while the men finished second in the league with 26 points. UMaine-Farmington won the men's side with 13 points and finished a distant second in the women's standings with 19 points.

With a pair of team wins last weekend at Titcomb Mountain, the Saint Joseph's women extended their winning streak to 15 events, a string of success that began at the start of the 2021 season.

For the first time in program history, both SJC teams will compete in the USCSCA Regionals, which take place this Saturday (giant slalom) and Sunday (slalom) at Sugarloaf. Races are set to begin at 9:30 AM both days.
