SJC Women Place Second at Black Mountain Slalom Race

RUMFORD, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College women's alpine ski team placed second with 13 place points and a 5:33.20 composite time in a slalom race at Black Mountain on Sunday. UMaine-Farmington won the event with 12 points and a 5:31.55 effort.

UMaine-Orono was third with 33 place points while Bowdoin College (47 points), New England College (68), and Colby College (72) rounded out the competing teams in today's race.

Junior Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) highlighted the Monks' day with a second-place finish and a 1:44.49 (51.47, 53.02) effort. The Beavers' Lauren Kesson claimed the individual title with a 1:44.46 time and UMaine's Abigail Fischer earned third-place accolades with a 1:49.54 time.

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Junior Courtney Pingree (Marblehead, Mass.) highlighted the Monks' day with a second-place finish and a 1:44.49 (51.47, 53.02) effort
  • Junior Maeghan Perkins (Turner, Maine) was fifth with a 1:53.92 (58.00, 55.92) time
  • Junior Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) raced to a sixth-place finish (1:54.79, 57.85 – 56.94)
  • Freshman Sienna Mack (Lincoln, N.H.) was ninth (1:59.19, 59.97 – 59.22)
  • Sophomore Lillian Souweine (Bangor, Maine) placed 14th (2:07.05, 1:04.09 – 1:02.96)
  • Sophomore Maddie Zordan (New Hartford, Conn.) was sixth after the first run (55.42) but was disqualified on the second run

Saint Joseph's will host a slalom race at Lost Valley in Auburn, Maine on Friday at 4:00 PM.
