Hurley Named MWBCA Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College sophomore guard Angelica Hurley (Groveland, Mass.) has been selected as the MWBCA Co-Rookie of the Week.

Hurley averaged 12.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.3 steals, and 3.0 assists per game in a 3-1 week for the Monks. She tallied 16 points, eight rebounds and seven steals in a win at Colby-Sawyer on Monday, netted 17 in a victory over Rivier on Tuesday, and pulled down 14 rebounds in an OT loss to Emmanuel on Thursday.

Through 20 games for the Monks, Hurley is averaging 9.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.0 steals. She leads the team in per-game averages in rebounding, assists, steals and blocked shots (0.7).

Hurley shares the weekly accolade with UMaine-Presque Isle sophomore Alexis Ireland (Howland, Maine), who recorded two double-doubles in a 2-0 week for the Owls.

Saint Joseph's will play at Anna Maria College on Wednesday at 5:00 PM.
