Hurley Named GNAC Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College junior guard Angelica Hurley (Groveland, Mass.) has been selected as the GNAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

Hurley averaged 22.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 5.5 steals per game in a pair of SJC victories on the road last week. The junior guard netted 22 points with five boards, three assists and six steals in a win at Thomas College on Wednesday and poured in 23 points with 12 caroms, four assists, and five steals at Lasell University on Saturday. For the week, Hurley shot 48.3% (14-29) from the floor, 56.3% (9-16) from beyond the arc, and 80% (8-10) from the FT line in the two triumphs.

Through 10 games this winter, Hurley is averaging 12.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.4 steals per game. She has been the team's top scorer in five different games and the Monks' leading rebounder in five contests so far this season.

As of December 12th, Hurley ranks second in the conference in defensive rebounds (67), fourth in three-pointers made (18), sixth in total rebounds (80) and steals (24), and eighth in free throws made (27).

The GNAC weekly honor is the second of her career and first since she was named as the conference Rookie of the Week on November 29th, 2021. She is the first SJC women's basketball player to garner GNAC Player of the Week honors since Kelsi McNamara '19 earned the award on February 11th, 2019.

Saint Joseph's (7-3, 2-0 GNAC) will host Anna Maria College on January 3rd at 5:30 PM.
