Head Coach Mike McDevitt '83 announced that McNamara was added to his staff as an assistant coach in October of 2021.

McNamara was a four-year starting point guard during one of the most successful eras in the storied history of the SJC women's basketball program. St. Joe's posted a 103-15 (.873) overall record – the most victories by a senior class in program history - with a 53-2 (.964) mark in conference play, three GNAC Championships, and four NCAA Tournament appearances during her time on the hardwood.

A proven winner, McNamara accumulated accolades at a rate rarely seen in college athletics, as she collected 103 individual honors during her four seasons. Following her senior campaign alone, McNamara garnered D3Hoops.com Second Team All-America, WBCA All-America Honorable Mention, as well as GNAC, NEWBA and MWBCA Player of the Year honors, among many others.

"I am very excited to be back as a member of the women's team in my new role as an assistant coach," adds McNamara. "I look forward to learning even more from Coach McDevitt and sharing my knowledge and love for the game with this talented group of girls."

During her incredible senior season, McNamara averaged 21.2 points, 6.7 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 43.9% (207-472) from the field, 37.5% (93-248) from three-point range, and 88.4% (129-146) from the free-throw line. She finished the 2018-19 season ranked second in NCAA DIII Women's Basketball in assists (200), third in three-pointers made (93), fourth in points (636), and fifth in assists average.

"I am beyond excited to have Kelsi joining our coaching staff," adds Coach McDevitt. "Any time you can add a coach with Kelsi's outstanding playing career to your staff it is a definite bonus. I am looking forward to her sharing her knowledge and love of the game with our players. She is going to do a great job for us!"

McNamara finished her senior year as the NCAA DIII Women's Basketball active leader in three-pointers made and attempted and established new SJC single-season records for three-pointers made and attempted, points, and assists. During her final season, she became just the second NCAA DIII Women's Basketball player to register at least 200 field goals made and 200 assists in the same season and first to do so in 25 years.

McNamara capped her college hoops career as the Monks' all-time leader in points (2,067), assists (621), three-pointers made (327) and attempted (856), and field goal attempts (1,660) and ranks highly in games (118, 2nd), field goals made (677, 2nd), free throws made (386, 2nd), assists average (5.3, 2nd), free throw percentage (83.5%, 3rd), scoring average (17.5, 3rd), and three-point percentage (38.2%, 4th).

McNamara began coaching almost immediately after graduating, as the Elementary Education major served as a player/coach at Oxford Brookes during the 2019-20 season and was the junior varsity coach for the Lewiston High School girls basketball program last year.

Coaching is rooted deep in McNamara's DNA, as her father – John – is about to begin his 16th year as the girls basketball head coach at Pentucket High School in West Newbury, Massachusetts. John coached both Kelsi and her older sister Erin (a standout player at University of Southern Maine) during their prep days and has built the Sachems' program into a perennial state championship contender.
