Six SJC Women's Lacrosse Players Earn GNAC Postseason Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse postseason honors have been announced and six Saint Joseph's College players have earned accolades.

Senior attack Lydia Dexter (Oakland, Maine) is a First Team honoree and freshman defender Erica Irvin (Windham, N.H.) is listed on the Second Team while senior midfielder Josie Ring (Newfield, Maine) and freshmen midi's Carson Battaglia (Gorham, Maine), Megan Mourmouras (Biddeford, Maine), and Cailyn Wesley (Peabody, Mass.) have claimed Third Team All-GNAC honors.

Dexter earns her first All-Conference nod after leading the Monks in goals (27), assists (32), points (59), shots (62), shots on goal (50), ground balls (23), and caused turnovers (15) during her second season on the lacrosse pitch. She finished the year ranked second in the nation in points per game (7.36) and fourth in assists per game (4.00) and led the conference in total assists.

In two seasons at Saint Joseph's, Dexter has scored 49 goals with 40 assists for 89 total points with 48 ground balls, 49 draw controls, and 24 draw controls in 24 games.

Irvin earns Second Team accolades after registering 14 ground balls, 25 draw controls and six caused turnovers as one of the Monks' top defensive players this spring. She ranked second on the team in draw controls and tied for third on the squad in ground balls.

Ring collects Third Team All-Conference honors after netting 12 goals with two assists for 14 total points while tallying 14 ground balls, 17 draw controls, and seven caused turnovers during her senior season.

Ring capped her collegiate career having scored 64 goals with 21 assists for 85 total points over 46 games. She also picked up 86 ground balls with 31 draw controls and 34 caused turnovers as a four-year starter.

Battaglia scored 12 goals with 13 ground balls and a team-high 35 draw controls en route to claiming Third Team All-Conference honors as a first-year player.

Mourmouras also earned Third Team mention after netting 16 goals with 13 ground balls, 12 draw controls, and nine caused turnovers this spring.

Wesley proved to be one of the Monks' top playmakers as a freshman and ranked second on the team with 18 goals over eight games. She also contributed with 13 ground balls, six draw controls, and five caused turnovers.

Under the watch of second-year Head Coach David Keenan, the Monks posted a 6-2 overall record with a 2-1 mark in Great Northeast Athletic Conference play. St. Joe's started the year by splitting the first two games but went on to win five of their last six, with their only setback during the stretch being a 12-11 overtime loss at the hands of eventual GNAC Champion Johnson & Wales University on April 17th.
