Shut-Out UMPI and Mitchell

STANDISH, MAINE - After dropping a tough 1-0 decision to Brandeis last weekend, the Saint Joseph's offense erupted for 18 goals this weekend. The team was led by first year Megan Willette (Waterville, ME) with 3 goals, 2 assists and senior Danielle McLaughlin (Skowhegan, ME) with 3 goals and one assist. First year Lindsay King (East Bridgewater, MA) also had 3 goals.

On Saturday, the Monks (10-6) defeated Maine Presque-Isle 5-0, dominating the game and keeping UMPI (7-6-1) shot-less in the first half. Senior captain Kerri Driscoll (Surry, ME) turned in another strong performance, scoring her first goal of the season.

Eight players scored for St. Joe's on Sunday en route to a 13-0 win over Mitchell College (1-8). McLaughlin and King were joined by junior Karla Emerson (East Vassalboro, ME), first-year Katie Jordan (Sandwich, MA) and first-year Heather Stanger (Rockport, MA) as the group tallied two goals apiece. Also scoring in the match were Willette, Driscoll and sophomore Caitlin Cargill (Bristol, VT). Cargill notched her first intercollegiate goal at 82:29.

The squad takes on Russell Sage College (NY) on Saturday at 11 AM and Meredith College (NC) takes on Green Mountain College (VT) at 1:30 PM, as Saint Joseph's hosts the DIII Independents Women's Soccer Championship.
