Monks Down Maine Maritime 4-2

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College (5-4, 4-2 GNAC) used goals by four different girls to down Maine Maritime (4-6-2, 1-1-1) Sunday afternoon. The win marked the 55th for Head Coach Michael Bolanz '00 making him the all-time leader in that category for women's soccer at SJC. Whitney Linindoll '11 (Paris, ME) and Lauren Hagerman '10 (Scarborough, ME) each recorded their first goals of the year during the first period, while Jessica Needham '11 (E. Bridgewater, MA) and Katie Jordan '09 (Sandwich, MA) put the game out of reach with goals during the second half.

The Mariners would not go down easy and they would tie the game at 2-2 on a goal by Kelsey Eiane 10:10 into the second half. But the Saint Joseph's Monks proved to be too much for the Mariners as Needham and Jordan scored their fifth and fourth goals of the year, respectively, sending the Monks to a 4-2 win.

Saint Joseph's dominated the net, outshooting the Mariners, 14-2. Maine Maritime's Lacey Jackson made eight saves in the loss.

The Royal Blue plays host to GNAC foe Emerson College (6-3-1, 4-2-0 GNAC) Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 PM.
