NORTON, MA - The nationally-ranked Wheaton College women's
soccer team tied a three-year-old school record by extending its
regular season unbeaten streak to 36 games behind a 4-0 win over
Saint Joseph's College on Sunday. Lady Monks goalkeeper
Katye Mayo '10 (Fairfield, ME)
made 11 saves in the loss.
The game marked the season-opener for the visiting Lady Monks squad
(0-1), while Wheaton, ranked 12th in the nation by National Soccer
Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), improved to 2-0 on the
year. The Lyons are now 16-0-1 in their last 17 home openers, last
losing in 1991.
Wheaton finished with a 36-1 advantage in shots while tallying six
of the game's seven corner kicks.
St. Joe's will travel to Babson Park, MA on Wednesday September 3rd
to square off against the Babson College Beavers in a match that
begins at 4:00 PM.
