Needham Named GNAC Player of the Week

STANDISH, ME – Jessica Needham '11 (East Bridgewater, MA/Cardinal Spellman) has been named as the GNAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the first reporting period of the 2010 season.

In the Monks' season opener against Thomas College on September 4th, Needham tallied two goals and two assists and tied a career-high with six total points. The senior forward played a part in four of the Monks' first five goals in the 7-0 triumph over the Terriers.

Needham paced the 2009 SJC side with 11 goals, 27 points and four game-winning scores. She has scored at least seven markers in each of her three seasons to date.

Including the scoring outburst against Thomas, Needham has tallied 28 goals, 20 assists and 76 points in 50 career games. Her scoring totals rank 9th, 6th and 8th, respectively, in Saint Joseph's Women's Soccer history.

For Needham, a two-time All-GNAC honoree, the weekly conference honor is the first of her career.

Saint Joseph's will host University of Maine-Farmington on Thursday, September 9th at 4:00 PM.
