STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College junior Carly Downey (Yarmouth, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week.
Downey earns the first weekly conference honor of her career after logging nearly 74 minutes of shutout play in a pair of GNAC victories last week. The junior netminder made seven saves in a 2-0 win at Simmons on Wednesday and turned away five shots in 57+ minutes in a 4-0 triumph over Norwich on Saturday.
In eight games this fall, Downey has posted two shutouts with a 2.00 goals-against average and a .788 save percentage with 52 saves in 630 minutes in net. She currently ranks second in the GNAC in shutouts and saves and sixth in minutes played.
Saint Joseph's will play at Emmanuel College on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
