Women’s Soccer Garners Fourth Seed in GNAC Tournament

WINTHROP, Mass.  Now unbeaten in each of the last two seasons of conference play, Johnson & Wales University (RI) draws eighth-seeded University of Saint Joseph (CT) at 6PM on Saturday, October 29 as the 2022 GNAC Women's Soccer Tournament gets underway.

The Wildcats went a perfect 13-0 against league foes this fall after posting a 12-0-1 GNAC mark last season. Also winners of the 2019 GNAC title prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, JWU will be in search of its third consecutive GNAC Championship next week.

Longtime GNAC powerhouse Lasell University went 11-1-1 in GNAC play to nail down the No. 2 seed, as the Lasers will take on seventh-seeded Colby-Sawyer this Saturday at 12PM noon.

Saturday's other two quarterfinal matchups will feature fifth-seeded Regis College traveling to fourth-seeded Saint Joseph's College of Maine, and third-seeded Emmanuel College hosting sixth-seeded Albertus Magnus College. Both of those contests will kick off at 2PM on the 29th.

With SJC earning a regular-season victory on Wednesday, Emmanuel also needed a win over Boston rival Simmons University in order to hang on to the No. 3 seed, securing it with a 1-0 Saints shutout.

There is no reseeding throughout the GNAC Tournament, while the league champion will receive the GNAC's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
