Six Women's Soccer Players Earn CSC Academic All-District® Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The 2022 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® women's soccer teams have been released and six Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.

Senior Keelin Sweeney (Hollis, Maine), juniors Carly Downey (Yarmouth, Maine), Claudia Janelle (Biddeford, Maine), Randi Lee Robinson (Hollis, Maine) and Aaliyah Wilson-Falcone (Winthrop, Maine) and sophomore Alicen Burnham (Monmouth, Maine) have been recognized for achieving academic excellence. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore status, be a starter or major contributor, and have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA.

Institutions are allowed to nominate just six student-athletes per team and Saint Joseph's is one of only three Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer programs to have the maximum allotment. Dean College and Regis College also have six honorees apiece. In total, 34 GNAC women's soccer players have earned CSC Academic All-District® accolades.

Sweeney, a Political Science major, started all 20 games as a standout defender for the Monks this fall. She scored her first collegiate goal in a 4-3 loss at Lasell University on October 8th and was the only SJC player to garner First Team All-Conference honors this year.

Downey, an Elementary Education major, played and started all 20 games for the Monks as a first-year starter and posted a 1.67 goals against average with an .805 save percentage, 120 saves, 10 wins, and a pair of shutouts.

Janelle, a Nursing major, also started all 20 games this fall and tallied six points with a goal and four helpers as a stalwart on the Monks' back line.

A Psychology major, Robinson started all 20 contests as a junior defender and logged nine shots, including three on goal, during the 2022 campaign.

Wilson-Falcone, who majors in Medical Biology, started all 20 games and enjoyed a breakout season as a junior forward with a team-high 12 goals and 27 total points this fall.

Burnham, an Exercise Science/Pre-Physical Therapy major, appeared in 17 games with 14 starts as a sophomore forward. She netted four goals with two assists for 10 total points in 2022.

The 2022 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (formerly known as the College Sports Information Directors of America, or CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. The CSC Academic All-District® teams can be found using the link below.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
