Harris is a native of Plymouth, Maine and played soccer at Nokomis High School where he graduated in 1997. He served in the Air Force for four years stationed at the Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana. Harris returned to Maine and is currently in the Air National Guard. He played soccer at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland and earned his AAS in Fire Science Technology.

Harris currently holds a USSF D License and a NSCAA Regional Goalkeeping License and has been coaching premier soccer in Maine since 2003, working with the Maine Terriers Soccer Club. He also coaches for Odyssey Sport 97 and works with boys teams from U12 to U16, youth clinics, and camps. Harris is a SoccerMaine Olympic Development coach, and has worked with 1992 and 1996 girls teams.

Josh lives in Portland with his wife, Jenelle Harris, and daughter Ainsley and is employed by the city of Auburn as a Fire Fighter/EMT.
