WINTHROP, Mass. – Set to compete in its first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Championships this weekend, associate member Roger Williams University was chosen atop both the women's and men's coaches' polls, as announced by the GNAC office on Friday.
After a one-year layoff due to COVID-19, the GNAC swimming & diving programs return to the Boston Sports Insitute in Wellesley, Mass., home of the 10-lane 2012 Olympic Trials Pool. The 3-day event begins Friday evening at 6:30 PM from Wellesley.
The 3-meter diving was originally scheduled to be held at Simmons on Friday night, but will now be held at Simmons on Sunday morning at 10AM.
Saturday morning's prelims at Wellesley will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by the 1-meter diving at 3:00 PM, and the finals at 6:15 PM. Sunday morning's action will start at 9:30 AM, followed by the finals at 4:00 PM.

On the women's side of the poll, RWU took home eight of the 10 first-place votes and 98 points overall. Simmons University, which has won the last 16 GNAC Championships and 18 of 19 overall, received two first-place votes and 89 points overall, as the Sharks enter the GNAC meet without head coach Mindy Williams for the first time since 2008-09. Fellow associate member University of New England finished third in the voting with 72 points, as the Nor'easters also enter their first year of GNAC Championship competition.
In the men's voting, Roger Williams took the top spot with five first-place votes and 35 points overall, ahead of Norwich University, which had 31 points and one first-place tally. Norwich has won the last three titles since the league's inaugural championship meet in the 2017-18 campaign, along with numerous GNAC Invitational team titles prior to that.
