STANDISH, Maine - The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has named 731 teams from 441 institutions to the Scholar All-America Team for the spring 2022 semester and the Saint Joseph's College men's and women's swim teams have earned the high academic honor. Teams were selected on the basis of their Spring 2022 grade point averages and represent 17,845 student-athletes.
The CSCAA recognizes teams with the Scholar All-America Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The SJC men posted a 3.48 grade point average while the St. Joe's women registered a 3.14 GPA during the spring semester.
The highest team GPA's come from Division III programs. Caltech women, for the second time in a row, lead the standings with a 3.97 GPA. Pacific Lutheran is the top men's program at 3.85.
Harvard's men and Stanford's women lead the Division I list with team GPA's of 3.78 and 3.83, respectively. Roberts Wesleyan's men (3.66) and Fairmont State's women (3.84) top the Division II category. SCAD-Savannah is best among all NAIA schools for both the men (3.56) and women's (3.80) rankings. NJCAA schools are led by Southwestern Oregon men (3.27) and women (3.54).
CSCAA Executive Director had this to say about Saint Joseph's, "Coach Felker understands the values of training the complete student-athlete and that is evident by the team's success in the classroom."
Under the leadership of third-year Head Coach Jared Felker, Saint Joseph's is one of 21 New England programs to have both men's and women's teams recognized. University of Saint Joseph and Husson University (an associate member) are the only other Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) institutions to have both teams earn the academic accolade.
