STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College hosted University of New England in a head-to-head swim meet at the Harold Alfond Center on Friday evening. The SJC men defeated UNE, 49-41, while the St. Joe's women suffered a 169-76 defeat.
THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:
- Sophomore Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) won the 50-Breast (34.36) and 100-Breast (1:13.84)
- Sophomore Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) placed first in the 50-Free (26.33) and 100-Free (58.61)
- Freshman Elise Soucy (Saco, Maine) finished second in the 50-Back (34.12) and fourth in the 100-Back (1:11.79)
- Junior Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) placed second in the 100-Back (1:10.76) and third in the 200-Free (2:16.26)
- First-year Emma Westgate (Sanford, Maine) was third in the 100-Fly (1:37.27) and fifth in the 50-Fly (42.01)
- Junior Ashley Thompson (Granby, Conn.) was fourth in the 50-Breast (40.74), 100-Breast (1:28.78) and 200-IM (3:14.28)
- Podsiadlo, Soucy, Matthews and Twombly won the 200-Free relay (1:49.42)
- Podsiadlo, Twombly, Matthews and Soucy placed second in the 200-Medley relay (2:04.37)
THE RUNDOWN – MEN:
- Freshman Lucas Fendl (Ellsworth, Maine) won the 50-Breast (31.60), 100-Breast (1:12.95) and 50-Free (25.15) races
- Junior Shawn Perry (Plaistow, N.H.) won the 100-Back (1:03.46) and 50-Fly (28.70) events and was second in the 50-Back (29.74)
