Monks Swim at Regis College

WESTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College competed in a head-to-head swim meet at Regis College on Saturday. The Monks suffered a pair of losses, as the women fell by a 105-79 margin while the men lost by a 101-30 score.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Sophomore Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) placed first in the 400-IM (5:21.43), 200-Back (2:27.20), and 200-Breast (2:50.43) events
  • Junior Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) won the 1000-Free (12:22.30), placed third in the 200-Free (2:21.50), and finished sixth in the 200-Back (2:39.63)
  • Sophomore Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) won the 50-Free (27.07) and 100-Free (58.48) and placed third in the 500-Free (6:05.72)
  • Freshman Elise Soucy (Saco, Maine) finished fourth in the 200-Free (2:28.28) and 100-Free (1:07.16) and fifth in the 200-Back (2:37.84)
  • First-year Emma Westgate (Sanford, Maine) was third in the 200-Fly (3:35.28), fourth in the 500-Free (7:42.33), and fifth in the 200-Free (2:52.10)
  • Junior Ashley Thompson (Granby, Conn.) placed second in the 200-Fly (3:23.35), third in the 200-Breast (3:20.44), and fifth in the 50-Free (33.95)
  • Freshman Samantha O'Rourke (Gilford, N.H.) was sixth in the 50-Free (35.85) and 100-Free (1:27.27)
  • Soucy, Podsiadlo, Twombly and Matthews won the 200-Free relay with a 1:51.64 effort

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Freshman Lucas Fendl (Ellsworth, Maine) placed second in the 200-Breast (2:53.17), third in the 50-Free (25.01), and fourth in the 200-Fly (2:38.94)
  • Junior Shawn Perry (Plaistow, N.H.) won the 200-Back (2:27.28), was second in the 400-IM (5:05.50), and third in the 200-Fly (2:31.37)
  • Sophomore Zachery Creekmore (New Fairfield, Conn.) was second in the 100-Free (1:18.88) and fifth in the 50-Free (32.85)

The Monks are off until Saturday, January 7th when they host Gordon College in a 12:00 PM start.
