Saint Joseph's Women Cap Regular Season with 5-1 Record

STANDISH, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College swim teams hosted Maine Maritime Academy in a head-to-head meet at the Harold Alfond Center Pool on Saturday afternoon. The St. Joe's women registered a convincing 94-66 triumph to finish the regular season with a 5-1 win-loss record while the men fell by a 104-14 score.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Freshman Berkley Hutchins (Springfield, Vt.) won the 100-IM (1:08.02)
  • Junior Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) won the 50-Free (27.25) and 100-Free (57.86)
  • Freshman Gracie Parker (Bar Harbor, Maine) won the 200-Free (2:17.02) and 500-Free (6:06.72) events and finished second in the 100-Fly (1:14.75)
  • Senior Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) won the 100-Back (1:09.57)
  • Junior Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) finished second in the 100-Free (1:03.23) and third in the 50-Free (28.79)
  • Sophomore Elise Soucy (Saco, Maine) was second in the 100-Back (1:11.52) and third in the 100-IM (1:14.80)
  • Freshman Bri Letourneau (Lewiston, Maine) placed second in the 1000-Free (13:35.38)
  • Senior Ashley Thompson (Granby, Conn.) placed fourth in the 500-Free (7:45.43) and fifth in the 200-Free (2:54.17)
  • Sophomore Emma Westgate (Sanford, Maine) was fifth in the 100-Fly (1:41.26)
  • Podsiadlo, Hutchins, Twombly, and Matthews comprised the winning 200-Medley relay team, which posted a 2:03.89 effort

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Sophomore Lucas Fendl (Ellsworth, Maine) won the 100-Fly (59.09) and placed fourth in the 100-IM (1:03.76)
  • Junior Zachery Creekmore (New Fairfield, Conn.) was fourth in the 100-Free (1:07.28) and fifth in the 100-IM (1:16.90)

NEXT!

Saint Joseph's is off until Friday, February 2nd when the teams travel to Worcester to compete in the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships. This year's three-day title event takes place at the Sports & Recreation Center on the campus of Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
