Monks Compete in Covid Catch Up at USM

GORHAM, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's indoor track & field teams traveled over to University of Southern Maine for a non-scoring "Covid Catch up" meet against Southern Maine, Suffolk, Plymouth State, Keene State and Thomas College this Sunday.

Sophomore Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) was the highlight of the meet on the men's side placing first overall in the 400-Meter Dash to punch his ticket to the DIII New England Championships. On the women's side, Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) placed first in the 600 Meter dash while junior Caitlin Kendrick (Richmond, Maine) topped the mile field with a 5:59.41 effort.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Junior Caitlin Kendrick (Richmond, Maine) finished first in the 1-Mile Run (5:59.41) and third in the 3000-Meter Run (12:29.90)
  • Senior Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) placed first in the 600-Meter Run (1:50.16)
  • Senior Emma Allen (Jefferson, Maine) gathered a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 1-Mile Run (6:05.60) and the 3000-Meter Run (12:25.47)
  • Junior Piper Wetherby (Berwick, Maine) was fifth in the in the Weight Throw (10.58m) and sixth in the Shot Put (8.83m)
  • Sophomore Abby O'Brien (Gorham, Maine) finished fourth in the Triple Jump (8.27m), fifth in the Long Jump (3.77m), eighth in the Weight Throw (9.54m) and 11th in Shot Put for a 8.20 personal best
  • Senior Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine) paced it out for a fifth place 1-Mile Run finish (6:31.21)
  • Freshman Lindy Hyndman (Auburn, Maine) placed fifth in the 55-Meter Dash (7.93) and 10th in the 200-Meter Dash (31.37)

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Sophomore Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) won the 400-Meter Dash with a 51.20 effort and finished sixth in the 55-Meter Dash (6.94)
  • Senior Tyler Nadeau (Farmingdale, Maine) finished fourth in the 600-Meter Dash (1:33.11) and 10th in the 55-Meter Dash (7.02)
  • Sophomore Wesley Hundley (Kennebunk, Maine) finished fourth overall in the 200 Meter Dash (24.71), 10th in the long jump (5.22m), and 14th in the 55-Meter Dash with 7.21 effort
  • Senior Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) had an electric comeback race in the 3000-Meter Run placing fifth with a 9:37.66 effort 
  • Senior Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) was sixth in the 1-Mile Run (4:48.69) and posted another sixth place finish in the 800-Meter Run (2:09.67)
  • Freshman Ryan Graham (Hopkinton, N.H.) finished seventh in the 800-Meter Run (2:11.15)

Saint Joseph's competes in Maine States at Colby College on Friday February 4th (Women) and Saturday February 5th (Men).
