Men Place Third, Women Fifth in GNAC Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College finished as fifth overall in the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at Boston University on Sunday. Associate GNAC Member Suffolk took first overall for the six-team Indoor Championship. 

 

Senior Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) topped the 800 field making All-Conference honors with her 2:27.76 effort. Junior Caitlin Kendrick (Richmond, Maine) finished second overall in the 3000 Meter Run with a personal best of 11:30.68. The two were responsible for 26 points of the Monks 36 overall team points.

 

Suffolk gathered 162 points for first, Emmanuel were runners-up with 117 points, Regis placed third (79), Colby-Sawyer finished fourth (77), the Monks placed fifth with 36 points and Lasell rounded out the six-team field with 6 points.

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Senior Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) collected 12.5 points for the day with her first overall finish in the 800 Meter Run with a 2:27.76 effort. VanDeMoere also competed in both the 4x400 Meter Relay and Distance Medley Relay
  • Junior Caitlin Kendrick (Richmond, Maine) went the distance for two personal bests with a runner-up finish in the 3000 Meter run (11:30.68) and a fourth-place finish in the 5000 Meter Run (20:46.03). Kendrick also competed in the Distance Medley Relay to finish the day with 13.5 points
  • Senior Emma Allen (Jefferson, Maine) grabbed a pair of sixth place finishes for two points in the Mile (5:57.66) and 60 Meter Hurdles (11.25) while also taking part in the Distance Medley Relay
  • Freshman Lindy Hyndman (Auburn, Maine) had a day of personal bests with her 60 Meter Dash (8.51) for fifth, 30.49 200 Meter Dash for 23rd and a 13th place finish in the Long Jump (4.15m)
  • Sophomore Abby O'Brien (Gorham, Maine) launched the shot for a seventh-place finish to reach her personal best with a 8.77m mark while also finishing tenth in the Triple Jump (8.19m), 12th in the Long Jump (4.26m) and 17th in the Weight Throw (6.68m)
  • Senior Julie Unczur (Danvers, Mass.) had a day in the Shot Put for a nineth place finish (8.33m) and finished 17th in the 60 Meter Dash (9.31)
  • Carly Jordan, Allen, VanDeMoere, and Kendrick placed third in the Distance Medley Relay (14:43.52)
  • Hanna Roy, Luiz, Jordan, and VanDeMoere placed fourth in the 4x400 Meter Dash Relay (4:59.26)
  • Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.), Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine), Kate Luiz (Pittston, Maine), Kimberly Moulton (Franklin, Mass.), Hanna Roy (Auburn, Maine), Hannah Vacco (Pembroke, N.H.) and Piper Wetherby also competed in the Indoor Track & Field Championship
