Farr, Goff, & Abukar Claim GNAC Weekly Honors

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and three Saint Joseph's College indoor track & field athletes have earned accolades after posting impressive performances in the Maine State Championships at Bates College on Saturday.

Junior Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) is the GNAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week, junior Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) has claimed GNAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors, and freshman Abdirizak Abukar (Lewiston, Maine) has been named as the GNAC Men's Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

Farr earns his second-consecutive GNAC weekly honor after placing fifth in the 200-Meter Dash (23.33) and running a leg of the Monks' 4x400-Meter Relay quartet, which placed fifth overall with a 3:40.65 time, at the Maine State Championships on Saturday.

Goff collects her third-straight weekly conference award – and fourth of the season – after scoring in all three of her events at the Maine State Championship. The junior standout placed fourth in the 60-Meter Hurdles (9.92) and High Jump (1.51m) events and was eighth in the Long Jump with a new team record 4.88m leap. Both her HJ and LJ marks are tops in the GNAC this season.

Abukar takes home his fourth GNAC Rookie of the Week accolade after breaking his own team record with a third-place finish, and 22.75 time, in the 200-Meter Dash at the Maine State Championships.

Saint Joseph's will compete in the GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championships at Boston University on Sunday, February 12th.
