St. Joe's Places Fifth in GNAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship

BOSTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College placed fifth with 59 team points in the 2023 GNAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center on Sunday.

Regis College claimed the team title with 134.50 points, just 10 points ahead of runner-up Emmanuel College, while Colby-Sawyer College placed third (81) and Lasell University was fourth (74).

Junior Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) recorded both of the Monks' individual victories with wins in the 60-Meter Hurdles (9.69) and Long Jump (5.06m) events and established SJC team records in the Long Jump and 200-Meter (27.24) competitions. Goff, a standout outdoor track athlete but a first-year member of the indoor track & field program, played a role in 38 of the Monks' 59 points having scored 30 individually and eight as part of the runner-up 4x400-Medley Relay (4:38.20) squad.

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Goff tallied 30 total points with wins in the 60-Meter Hurdles (9.69) and Long Jump (5.06m) events, a third-place effort in the 200-Meter (27.24), and a fourth-place performance in the High Jump (1.41m)
  • Freshman Paige Sawyer (Ellsworth, Maine) placed second in the 60-Meter Hurdles (9.93) and sixth in the 60-Meter (8.75) for a total of nine points
  • Senior Kimberly Moulton (Franklin, Mass.) added seven points after placing third in the Weight Throw (11.92m) and sixth in the Shot Put (8.62m)
  • Freshman Alexia Young (Rochester, N.H.) chipped in with three points after finishing fifth in the 400-Meter (1:06.24) and sixth in the 200-Meter (28.95)
  • Junior Abby O'Brien (Gorham, Maine) placed fifth in the Weight Throw (10.97m)
  • Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.), Taylor Garland (Saco, Maine), Mackenzie Howard (Kennebunk, Maine), Lindy Hyndman (Auburn, Maine), Sarah Joe (Londonderry, N.H.), Kate Luiz (Pittston, Maine), and Hannah Vacco (Pembroke, N.H.) also competed for the Monks but did not register point-place finishes
  • Young, Goff, Luiz, and Garland placed second in the 4x400-Meter Relay (4:38.20)
