Monks Kick off 2023-24 Season at Southern Maine

GORHAM, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's and women's indoor track & field teams opened the 2023-24 season with an appearance in the University of Southern Maine Alumni Open on Saturday.

The meet was highlighted by multiple program records falling for both the men and the women. Performances from Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) and Jacob Schmader (Limington, Maine) punched their tickets to the New England Regional Championships. Goff's effort in the Long Jump (5.20m) puts her over the qualifying mark and Schmader's effort in the 500 Meter Run (1:08.17) converts to a qualifying standard in the 600 Meter Run.

FOR THE RECORD:

Four program records fell for the Monks today.

  • Abby O'Brien in the Weight Throw with a mark of 12.62
  • Brooklyn Goff in the Long Jump (5.20m) and 300 Meter Dash (46.41)
  • Tudum Monday in the 55 Hurdles (8.17)
  • Jacob Schmader in the 500 Meter Run (1:08.17)
  • Monday, Doe, Corriveau, and Schmader in the Men's 4x400-meter Relay (3:31.87)

 

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Senior Brooklyn Goff was first place in the 300-meter run with a time of 46.41, first in the Long Jump with a mark of of 5.20m, and third place in the 55 Hurdles with a time of 9.40 seconds 
  • Senior Abby O'Brien finished second place in the Weight Throw with a distance of 12.62 meters and tenth place in the Shot Put with a distance of 7.29m
  • Sophomore Alexia Young came in third in the 300-meter dash (47.26) and fourth place in the 200 meters with a time of 30.17
  • Junior Terry Cassetta was third place in the 3000 meters with a time of 14:52.39.
  • Junior Kate Luiz was fifth place in the 200 meters with a time of 31.61
  • Freshman Ava Smart finished second place in the 300 meters with a time of 46.82
  • Freshman Ava Moffett came in and second place in the 3000 meters with a time of 14:28.64 and fourth in the Mile with a time of 6:42.19
  • Freshman Breya Whitman was second in the Triple Jump (9.38m), fourth place in the High Jump with a height of 1.47 meters and fifth in the 55 Hurdles with a time of 11.23 seconds
  • Freshman Alexis Cowan came in fourth in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.30 meters and third in the Triple Jump with a distance of 9.11 meters.
  • Sophomore Alayah Schmitz was sixth in 55 Hurdles (11.64)
  • Freshman Selena Huot finished 7th in 55 Hurdles (11.66)
  • Freshman Samira Mohamed was eighth in 55 Hurdles (12.93)
  • Sophomore Sarah Joe was ninth place in the Shot Put with a distance of 7.43 meters and tenth place in the Weight Throw with a distance of 7.54 meters
  • Freshman Lily Martinson placed 11th in both the Shot Put (6.97m) and the Weight Throw (6.94m)

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Freshman Tudum Monday won the 55 Hurdles in his program record-breaking effort (8.19)
  • Sophomore Jacob Pelletier placed third in the 5000 Meter Run with a 16:20.60 mark
  • Senior Ryan Farr placed fourth in the 55 Meter Dash (6.80)
  • Freshman Younton Diamond Doe placed second in the 300 Meter Dash (36.91) and sixth in the 55 Meter Dash (6.76)
  • Freshman Jacob Schmader placed second in the 500 Meter Run (1:08.17) and third in the 200 Meter Dash
  • Freshman Matthew Corriveau placed second overall in the 200 Meter Dash (23.87) and seventh in the Long Jump (6.13m)
  • Freshman Jonah Naratil placed fourth in the 55 Hurdles with a mark of 9.11, eighth in the Long Jump (5.89m) and 11th in the Pole Vault (2.70m)
  • Sophomore Noah Batoosingh finished fourth in the 200 Meter Dash (24.54)
  • Freshman Colin Brown placed fourth overall in his 1000-meter Run effort (3:21.90)
  • Freshman Carl Peters placed fifth in the Triple Jump with a mark of 11.27m and finished with a time of 7.08 in the 55 Meter Dash
  • Freshman Carl Peters finished fifth in the Triple Jump (11.27m) and ran the 55 Meter Dash in 7.08
  • Freshman Devonte Prom placed fifth in the Triple Jump with an 11.27m effort and finished 11th in the Long Jump (5.54m)
  • Senior Wesley Hundley placed sixth in the Weight Throw (10.95m) and ninth in the Shot Put (11.08m)
  • Freshman Andrew James threw for sixth in the Shot Put (12.79m) and tossed the weight for a 9.83 mark for eleventh in the Weight Throw
  • Sophomore Seth Quinney placed eighth in the Weight Throw (10.27m) and 11th in the Shot Put (10.60m)
  • Sophomore Tyler Ricker placed sixth in the 55 Hurdles (9.40) and eighth in the Long Jump (5.89m)
  • Sophomore Brayden Grant ran the 500 Meter Run in 1:18.96 for a seventh-place finish
  • Senior Ethan Tardif finished seventh in the 200 Meter Dash (26.58) and got a mark of 7.54 in the 55 Meter Dash
  • Freshman Haytham Ramadan crossed the finish line seventh in 4:36.92 in his Mile Run debut
  • Freshman Christopher Godefroy placed seventh in the Triple Jump (10.61m), tenth in the 55 Hurdles (10.36) and 12th in the Long Jump 5.38m
  • Sophomore John McManus placed seventh in the 300 Meter Dash clocking in at 39.62
  • Junior Ryan Graham cruised in for a 9:33.56 finish in the 3000-Meter Run for eighth
  • Freshman Gehrig Hatch got a pair of eighth-place finishes in both the 300 Meter Run (40.10) and 55 Hurdles (9.61)
  • Junior Jesse Tidd placed ninth in the 200 Meter Dash and got a 7.72 mark in the 55 Meter Dash
  • Sophomore EJ Sungubele clocked in a 1:22.60 in the 500 Meter Run for ninth place
  • Monday, Doe, Corriveau, and Schmader won the Men's 4x400-meter Relay (3:31.87)
