Women Place Fourth in 2024 GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championship

BOSTON, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College women's indoor track & field team finished fourth with 60.5 points in the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Track & Field Championship at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center on Sunday.

Emmanuel College claimed the championship for the second time in team history – and first since 2020 – with 135.5 points, while Colby-Sawyer College placed second (126 pts), Regis College finished third (117 pts), Saint Joseph's was fourth, and Lasell University placed fifth (48 pts).

COACH QUOTABLE:

"Really proud of our Men's and Women's programs right now," adds Head Coach Mike Burleson.  "There was a lot of Monk pride out there this weekend. Our athletes have bought in and have been putting in the work all season and it's great when it pays off at championship time. Thankful to our seniors for their leadership and excited for what our returners will do in the future."

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Senior Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) won the 60-Meter Hurdles (9.56) and Long Jump (5.01m) events and finished second in the High Jump (1.51m) to record a meet-high 28 points
  • Senior Abby O'Brien (Gorham, Maine) finished second in the Weight Throw with a 12.71m heave and was 10th in the Shot Put (8.83m)
  • Freshman Audrey Bilodeau (Lewiston, Maine) placed third in the 60-Meter Hurdles (10.23) and ninth in the Long Jump (4.42m)
  • Sophomore Alexia Young (Rochester, N.H.) placed fourth in the 400-Meter (1:04.14) and was 10th in the Long Jump (4.41m)
  • Freshman Ava Smart (South Portland, Maine) was fifth in the 400-Meter (1:04.15)
  • Freshman Breya Whitman (Auburn, Maine) tied for sixth with a 1.41m leap in the High Jump and was sixth in the Triple Jump (9.58m)
  • Junior Sarah Joe (Londonderry, N.H.) finished sixth in the Weight Throw (9.07m)
  • Goff, Young, Bilodeau and Smart placed third in the 4x400 Meter Relay with a 4:21.68 time
  • Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.), Kate Luiz (Pittston, Maine), Whitman and Moffett finished fourth in the Distance Medley (17:06.24)

NEXT!

Saint Joseph's will compete in the NCAA DIII Regional Championships at THE Track at New Balance in Boston on February 25th and 26th.
