Monks Open Outdoor Season at Bridgewater State

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College Men's and Women's Track teams made their decade debut in their first meet of the 2022 outdoor season. Traveling down to Bridgewater State the Monks competed at the non-scoring BSU Bears Invitational at Swenson Field. 

The Monks took a few shots at the record board this Saturday breaking three school records in the field events. Freshman Dylan Dickey (Laconia, N.H.) launched the Javelin 52.92m to crush the previous record and punch his ticket to the New England Championship. James Benson (Gorham, Maine) did a skip, jump and a hop to break the Triple Jump record (12.51m). Last but not least, Kimberly Moulton (Franklin, Mass.) swung the Hammer around for a soaring 32.75m mark.   

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) placed fourth in the 400 Hurdles (1:15.12), seventh in High Jump (1.52m), and 10th in the 100 Hurdles 17.91 for a stellar first day
  • Kimberly Moulton (Franklin, Mass.) had a record throw of 32.75m in the Hammer Throw for seventh and was 22nd in the Shot put (21.36m) and 27th in the discus throw with a 21.36m mark
  • Junior Caitlin Kendrick (Richmond, Maine) finished 12th in the 5000 Meter run (20:40.81) and 37th in the 1500 Meter (5:49.47) for two personal bests
  • Piper Wetherby (Berwick, Maine) snagged 14th in the Shot Put (8.72m), 16th in the Hammer Throw (24.33m) and topped the day off with a 24th place finish in the Discus (22.29)
  • Junior Kelsey Kennedy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) placed 15th in the 1500 Meter Run with a flat out 5:19 
  • Hannah Vacco (Pembroke, N.H) placed 19th in the 5000 Meter Run for a personal best of 23:04 and raced in the 1500 with a 6:09 effort
  • Abby O'Brien (Gorham, Maine) set a personal best in the Hammer Throw for a 26.76m effort, placing 13th overall, while also getting a pair of 18th-place finishes in the Shot Put (8.16m) and Discus (25.59m) events; O'Brien also placed 21st in the Long Jump (3.54m) for the Monks
  • Julie Unczur (Danvers, Mass.) placed 20th in the Javelin (18.91m) and made her "distance" debut in the 400 Meter Dash for a 1:19.51 finish

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Senior James Benson (Gorham, Maine) took third in the Triple Jump (12.51m), placed 11th in the 100 Meter Dash with a 11.71 effort, and was 13th in the Long Jump (5.93)
  • Sophomore Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine.) placed 12th in the 200 Meter Dash (23.88) and 17th in the 100 Meter Dash with a 11.82 mark
  • Senior Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) paced out a 16:52.37 5000 Meter Run for 14th
  • Senior Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) placed 15th in the 800 Meter Run (2:11.23) and 37th in the 104-runner field for the 1500 Meter Run (4:26.81)
  • Sophomore Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.) sprinted to the finish for a 57.93 400 Meter Dash placing 17th
  • Freshman Tyler Ricker (Montpelier, Vt.) unlaced the basketball sneakers and threw on some track spikes to finish 20th in the 800 Meter Run (2:13.08)
  • Junior Devin Abbott (Berwick, Maine) also grabbed a 20th-place finish in the 5000 Meter Run for a 17:44.26 
  • Farr, Nadeau, Carmosino, Hendricks placed 13th in the 4x400 Meter Relay (3:43.74)

Saint Joseph's travels to the University of New Hampshire to Compete in the Wildcat Invitational next Saturday.
