Monks Show Well at Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet

FITCHBURG, Mass. – After a three-year hiatus, the Saint Joseph's College outdoor track & field teams finally made it back to the annual Jim Sheehan Memorial hosted by Fitchburg State University. Mother Nature seemed to be the biggest competitor for the Monks with her fluctuating weather conditions leading to a storm delay during the halfway mark of the meet. Taking on the challenge, the Monks finished the meet with four broken school records, 23 season-best performances, and a whole lot of soaked clothing.

Crashing the school record board for the Monks, sophomore Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) shaved some time off her previous school record hurdling for a 1:11.98 time in the 400 Meter Hurdles. James Benson (Gorham, Maine) tied the 100 Meter Dash record with an 11.60 time (with no wind advantage this time around) and broke his previously held Long Jump record with a flying 6.42m effort. Finally, sophomore Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) came out of the rain delay with only minutes to warm up and cranked out a 51.56 400 Meter Run.
