Monks Have a Showing at Regis Pre-Conference Meet

WESTON, MA. – The Monks Women's and Men's Track & Field team traveled down to the home of the Regis Pride for the Regis Pre-Conference Meet. In this non scoring meet the Monks had a total of 11 first place finishes and a total of 50 top ten finishers (25 for the Men and 25 for the Women). 

To highlight the meet three Monks broke standing school records. Senior Samantha VanDeMoere broke the 2:29.62 (Sarah Curtin) 800 Meter school record with a new time of 2:25.58. Junior Kimberly Moulton laid the Hammer down to shatter the Hammer Throw Record with a 35.19m mark. Senior Troy Hendricks soloed a 3000 Meter Steeplechase to cut ten seconds from his previously held school record (10:18.21) to write his ticket to the DIII New England Championship with a 10:08.17 (10:10 being the DIII NE Championship Qualifying standard).

 

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Sophomore Brooklyn Goff (Biddeford, Maine) placed first in the 400 Hurdles with a 1:12.57 and second in the 100 Hurdles (17.25). Goff also placed second in the High Jump leaping to a 1.42m mark
  • Senior Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) had a record-breaking finish in the 800 Meter run for a 2:25.58. VanDeMoere also placed sixth in the Long Jump (3.93m) and 12th in the Javelin (19.69m)
  • Senior Julia Heroux (Albion, R.I.) placed first in the 5000 Meter run and third in the 1500 Meter run finishing her colligate career on a high note
  • Rookie Lindy Hyndman (Auburn, Maine) placed second in the 100 Meter dash for a personal record mark of 13.48
  • Senior Julie Unczur (Danvers, Mass.) placed fifth in the Long Jump (3.98m) and ninth in the 100 Meter Dash with a personal best mark of 14.86. Unczur also placed 15th in Javelin (17.22m) and 16th in the Shot Put (8.23m)
  • Senior Kaylee Todisco (Wilmington, Mass.) placed second in the Pole Vault tying her school record mark of 2.15m. Todisco also placed fifth in the 100 Meter dash (13.93) and sixth in the 200 Meter dash (28.79)
  • Rookie Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.) placed third in the 5000 Meter run for a 25:57.98 finish
  • Rookie Kate Luiz (Pittston, Maine) placed sixth in the 400 Meter dash with a personal best 1:11.88 mark
  • Senior Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine) placed tenth in the 1500 Meter run with a 5:57.02 finish
  • Junior Kimberly Moulton (Franklin, Mass.) had two personal bests in both the Hammer Throw (35.19m) for fourth breaking her school record in the Hammer and the Discus (25.58m) for eighth. Moulton also placed 14th in the Shot Put 8.52m
  • Sophomore Abby O'Brien (Gorham, Maine) had a personal best in the Hammer Throw with a 33.75m launch of a throw. O'Brien also placed seventh in the Discus (26.02m) and 12th in the Shot Put (8.79m)
  • Junior Piper Wetherby (Berwick, Maine) also had a person best in the Hammer Throw with a 32.58m sixth place finish. Wetherby also had a 15th place finish in the Shot Put (8.45m) and 19th finish in the Discus (17.60m)
  • Sophomore Hannah Vacco (Pembroke, N.H.) placed 14th in the 800 Meter run with a person best of 2:58.30 and 14th in the 1500 Meter run as well (6:20.49)
  • VanDeMoere, Kennedy, Jordan, and Heroux took first in the 4x400 Meter Relay (4:51.43)
  • Todisco, Hyndman, Luiz, and Todisco placed second in the 4x100 Meter Relay (53.60)

 

THE RUNDOWN – MEN: 

  • Sophomore Ryan Farr (Gorham, Maine) doubled in the 400 Meter dash (51.61) and 200 Meter dash (23.31) snagging first in both events
  • Senior Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) placed first in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a 10:08.17 finish signing his ticket to the DIII New England Championship
  • Senior Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) came out on top with a first-place finish in the 5000 Meter run with a season best of 16:42.56
  • Senior James Benson (Gorham, Maine) placed ninth in the Javelin with a personal best 33.52m
  • Senior Cameron Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) snagged a pair of sixth place finishes in the 800 Meter run (2:32.16) and 1500 Meter run (5:40.59)
  • Junior Ashtyn Abbott (Farmingdale, Maine) placed first in both the Triple Jump with a personal best of 12.06m and also placed first in the High Jump (1.88m). Abbott placed second in the Long Jump with a 5.91m leap
  • Rookie Dylan Dickey (Laconia, N.H.) placed first in the Javelin throw with a 52.20m mark and also had his debut in the Discus Throw (29.41m) placing third
  • Junior Devin Abbott (Berwick, Maine) placed third in a stellar 1500 Meter run cutting 22 seconds from his season best for a 4:26.63 personal best
  • Rookie Ryan Graham (Hopkinton, N.H.) battled in the 5000 Meter run for a personal best in his event debut (16:48.15) placing second
  • Rookie Tyler Ricker (Montpelier, VT) placed third in the Long Jump (5.75m) and second in the 400 Meter dash for a personal best mark (54.77)
  • Sophomore Nick Carmosino (Acton, MA) finished fourth in the 400 Meter dash (58.92)
  • Rookie Ethan Shaw (Scarborough, Maine) ran the 1500 Meter dash in 4:49.06 for a fifth place finish 
  • Rookie Jesse Tidd (Portland, Maine) placed ninth in the 200 Meter dash (27.13) and had an 11th place finish in the 100 Meter dash for a personal best of 12.87
  • Sophomore Mohamed Mohamed (Scarborough, Maine) had a personal best in the Long Jump with a 4.87m jump and an 11th place finish in the Javelin throw (32.42m)
  • Sophomore Wesley Hundley (Kennebunk, Maine) placed third in the Shot Put with a 10.02m mark and fifth in both the 100 Meter Dash (12.34) and Long Jump (5.16m)
  • Farr, Benson, Hundley, Ricker placed third in the 4x100 Meter Relay with a 45.78
  • Farr, Hendricks, Ricker, Benson won the 4x400 Meter Relay with a 3:37.87 finish
