Hawkes Collects Third Team All-GNAC Honor

STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has released the 2011 All-Conference teams and Saint Joseph's junior Sarah Hawkes (Pownal, Maine) has garnered Third Team honors for the second consecutive season.

Hawkes enjoyed another tremendous season with team-leading totals in kills (234), kills per set (2.69), attacks (658), solo blocks (35), block assists (27) and total blocks (62). She also paced the Royal Blue with a .252 hitting percentage after making 68 errors in 658 attempts and tallied nine double-double efforts as a junior.

The 2011 season was a record-breaking campaign for Hawkes as the middle blocker broke the program's career records for kills (768), digs (823) and solo blocks (129) during her junior year.

Saint Joseph's (19-12, 8-5 GNAC) earned the #6 seed in the GNAC Tournament and fell to #3 Emmanuel College, 3-1, in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, November 1st.

Although the season-ending setback was disappointing, the Monks' rapid development under the guidance of second-year Head Coach Yami Nolan is certainly encouraging. The Monks posted its highest win total since the 1997 campaign and the most GNAC wins in five years as a conference member.
