Monks Best Eagles on Senior Day, 3-1

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College (9-19) defeated Husson University (7-14), 3-1 (25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19) in a non-conference women's volleyball match at the Harold Alfond Center on Wednesday evening.

SENIOR MOMENT:

Prior to the start of the contest, the Monks held a brief ceremony to honor the program's five seniors: Nicole Baron (Derry, N.H.), Hannah Bureau (Alton, N.H.), Sarah Hotchkiss (New Durham, N.H.), Olivia Kent (Ellington, Conn.), and Sarah Quinn (Dover, N.H.). The 2022 graduating volleyball class helped the Monks advance to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament in 2018 and 2019 and all five players have been members of the program for four years.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Bureau led the Monks' offensive attack with 14 kills on 36 attempts with a .278 hitting percentage, four digs, and a pair of block assists
  • Quinn enjoyed a fine evening as well, with 13 kills and a .414 hitting rate to go with 14 digs and eight total blocks
  • Kent tacked on seven kills and seven digs
  • Baron posted three kills, three aces, three digs, and five block assists
  • Freshman Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) produced six kills, two aces, and six digs
  • Junior Hannah Holden (Stoughton, Mass.) added 22 assists, two aces, and eight digs
  • Freshman Sierra Burns (Peyton, Colo.) posted nine digs

LEADERS – HUSSON:

  • Sophia Pagliarini recorded 13 kills with a .321 hitting percentage
  • Cheyenne Young added 12 kills
  • Julia Leavitt delivered nine kills
  • Alyvia McIntyre notched 41 assists and 16 digs
  • Adrienne Beatty contributed 19 digs

NEXT!

With a tournament berth on the horizon, Saint Joseph's will face Johnson & Wales University (1:00 PM) and Simmons University (3:00 PM) in a GNAC tri-match hosted by Simmons on Saturday. The GNAC tourney begins with a quarterfinal round on Tuesday.
