St. Joe's Falls to Mary Hardin-Baylor & St. Thomas

HOUSTON – Saint Joseph's College (1-7) capped an appearance in the First Responder's Tournament, hosted by the University of St. Thomas, with a pair of losses. The Monks fell by a 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-9) score at the hands of Mary Hardin-Baylor (6-2) and finished the four-match swing with a 3-0 (25-5, 25-14, 25-18) loss to St. Thomas.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Freshman Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) chipped in with three kills and eight digs
  • Holden recorded eight assists and five digs
  • Sophomore Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) and senior Catherine Balzano (Portland, Maine) added three kills apiece
  • Freshman Nadia Sixto (Chattanooga, Tenn.) posted three kills, an ace, and two digsd

LEADERS – MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR:

  • Jenci Seahorn belted five digs with a pair of block assists
  • Katie Warden contributed four kills and three total blocks
  • Kaia Halfmann posted a match-high 13 assists with three aces and a pair of digs
  • Gracie Nichols tallied four aces and seven digs

St. Thomas 3, Saint Joseph's 0

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Briones posted four kills and three digs
  • Senior Hanna Holden (Stoughton, Mass.) delivered 11 assists, three aces, and three digs
  • Sophomore Hanna Webster (Alvin, Texas) slammed home four kills on seven attempts for a .571 hitting percentage
  • Junior Sam Holland (Gilmanton, N.H.) picked up six digs

LEADERS – ST. THOMAS:

  • Paige Havel notched seven kills, three service aces, and four total blocks
  • Emerson Sykes added nine assists and two digs
  • Alaina Lanik and Ashlynne Fitzgerald recorded five kills apiece
