Panthers Claw Past Monks, 3-1

STANDISH, Maine – Plymouth State University (7-2) overcame a 1-0 set deficit to defeat Saint Joseph's College (4-8), 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-10, 25-17), in a non-conference women's volleyball match at Mike McDevitt Court on Tuesday evening.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Freshman Nadia Sixto (Chattanooga, Tenn.) led the Monks with 12 kills and two solo blocks
  • First-year Victoria Briones (El Paso, Texas) registered eight kills, nine digs, and three assists
  • Sophomore Maggie Sylvester (Barrington, N.H.) posted five kills, 12 digs, and a pair of solo blocks
  • Senior Hanna Holden (Stoughton, Mass.) added 11 assists and seven digs
  • Junior Abby Jerome (Barrington, N.H.) chipped in with three service aces and 11 digs
  • Senior Amanda Darby (Shrewsbury, Mass.) delivered nine assists

LEADERS – PLYMOUTH STATE:

  • Sophomore Lilli Stogner (Weare, N.H.) recorded a match-high 16 kills on 32 attempts with a .375 attack percentage
  • Junior Nora Ryan (Groton, Conn.) added 13 kills on 24 attempts for a .458 attack rate along with six digs and four total blocks
  • Freshman Riley McDonough (Gilford, N.H.) added 15 assists, nine digs, and two aces
  • Sophomore Makayla Marucci (Newton, Mass.) picked up 19 digs

NEXT!

Saint Joseph's kicks off Great Northeast Athletic Conference play on Saturday with a pair of games at Elms College. The Monks will face Norwich University at 2:00 PM before taking on the host-Blazers at 4:00 PM.
