Monks Cap 2021 Season at NCAA DIII East Regional Championship

BOSTON, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College cross country teams competed in the 2021 NCAA DIII East Regional Championship at Franklin Park on Saturday. In what was the season finale for both teams, the SJC women placed 22nd with 585 points and the Monks' men finished 29th with 739 points.

Tufts University won the women's 6K with 59 points, just six points ahead of runner-up MIT. Bates College (87), Brandeis (89), and Wellesley (93) rounded out the top five finishing teams.

Wellesley senior Ari Marks claimed top individual honors with a 21:17 time, 15 seconds ahead of runner up Danielle Page from Tufts.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

Junior Kelsey Kennedy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was 95th with a 26:35 time
Junior Caity Kendrick (Richmond, Maine) finished 125th with a 27:36 effort
Senior Emma Allen (Jefferson, Maine) placed 129th (27:50)
Senior Julia Heroux (Albion, R.I.) was 140th (28:14)
Senior Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) placed 144th (28:22)
Senior Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine) finished 152nd (28:36)
Freshman Terry Cassetta (Sandy Hook, Conn.) placed 197th (32:07)

MIT won the men's 8K race with 23 points, well ahead of runner-up Colby College, which posted 67 points. Tufts (118), Bates (126), and WPI (153) closed out the top five competing institutions.

Colby sophomore Tyler Morris toured the 8K course in 25:01 for the individual win while MIT junior Andrew Mah finished as the runner-up with a 25:38 effort.

Senior Troy Hendricks (Hiram, Maine) finished 88th (28:45)
Senior Jacob Huberdeau (Atkinson, N.H.) was 125th (29:51)
Sophomore Nick Carmosino (Acton, Mass.) was 180th (31:43)
Senior Tyler Nadeau (Farmingdale, Maine) placed 181st (31:44)
Freshman Ethan Shaw (Scarborough, Maine) finished 185th (31:52)
Junior Devin Abbott (Berwick, Maine) placed 208th (33:18)
Senior Cameron Rice (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) was 225th (38:20)
