Women Place Third at Inaugural GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championship

BOSTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College placed third in the 2020 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at Boston University on Sunday. The Monks tallied 61 points in what was the first-ever indoor championship in GNAC history.

Five SJC team records fell in the conference championship, as sophomore Kaylee Todisco (Wilmington, Mass.) broke the Monks' 60-Meter dash (8.18) and Pole Vault (2.15m) records, sophomore Samantha VanDeMoere (Thornton, N.H.) established program-bests in the 400-Meter dash (1:03.27) and 800-Meter run (2:29.22), and Dori LeMoine (Swan's Island, Maine) extended the team's Shot Put record to 10.29 meters.

Emmanuel College cruised to the inaugural GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championship crown with 174 points, well ahead of runner-up Suffolk University (114). Regis College finished fourth (47) and Colby-Sawyer College rounded out the five-team field with 46 points.

THE RUNDOWN:

  • Todisco paced the Monks with 18 points after posting runner-up finishes in the 60-Meter dash (8.24) and Pole Vault (2.15m) and a fifth-place effort in the 200-Meter dash (28.16)
  • VanDeMoere notched eight total points with fourth-place performances in the 400-Meter dash (1:03.27) and 800-Meter run (2:29.22)
  • Freshman Kelsey Kennedy (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) posted six points with a fourth-place time in the 1-Mile run (5:28.87) and a fifth-place effort in the 800-Meter run (2:30.22)
  • Senior Lillian Bisset (Jefferson, Maine) was fourth in the 60-Meter hurdles (10.49) and added four points
  • Sophomore Cassidy Lee (Sullivan, Maine) finished fourth in the Triple Jump (9.51m) and chipped in with four points
  • LeMoine contributed four points with fifth-place efforts in the Shot Put (10.29m) and Weight Throw (11.02m) events
  • Senior Marisa Quirion (Gardiner, Maine) added one point with a sixth-place time in the 3000-Meter run (11:51.49)
  • VanDeMoere, Carly Jordan (Turner, Maine), Katelyn McCarthy (Londonderry, N.H.) and Meghan Glisson (Merrimack, N.H.) finished second in the 4x400-Meter relay (5:03.12)
  • Kennedy, Emily Colson (Casco, Maine), VanDeMoere and Quirion notched a runner-up time in the Distance Medley (14:05.91)
  • Nora Devine (Freedom, N.H.), Marissa Hoffman (Waterbury, Vt.), Basma Leyon (Westbrook, Maine), Lauryn Arsenault (Rockland, Maine), Julia Heroux (Albion, R.I.), Julie Unczur (Danvers, Mass.), Kimberly Moulton (Franklin, Mass.), and Piper Wetherby (Berwick, Maine) also competed in the inaugural GNAC Indoor Track & Field Championship
