"I have 4 brothers and 3 other sisters...and my parents are still sane!"

Liz is a junior two-sport athlete who transferred to St. Joe's last fall from Springfield College. She plays basketball for head coach Deb Reardon in the winter and is currently playing on the Lady Monks softball team for coach Jamie Smyth. Liz is well known for her blazing speed in both sports and also for being the twin sister of SJC women's soccer standout Katie Jordan.

Softball Head Coach Jamie Smyth on Liz:

"It was a pleasant surprise to see Liz transfer in from Springfield College this year. She possesses great athletic ability and incredible speed on the softball field. Liz has the ability to play several different positions for us and that versatility makes her such a huge asset for our ball club."

Women's Basketball Head Coach Deb Reardon on Liz:

"We were thrilled to have Liz join our squad this year. Adding an experienced point guard was just what our young team needed and Liz quickly learned the system. Jordan's impact was felt immediately and her speed challenged the team on a daily basis. Her fearless and aggressive attitude fits in perfectly with our up-tempo style of play and we are looking forward to another season with Liz."

Do you have any superstitions before you go into a big game?

I have to listen to the "Boondock Saints" theme song before every basketball game I play.

What is your most memorable moment as an athlete at SJC?

That would have to be one of our softball games in Florida this spring. We were playing against RPI, a good team who had a high level of confidence. We were down at first, but after a grand slam by Liddy (van der Linden), we couldn't stop scoring and we wound up beating them 13-9. I have never seen our team cheer and scream so loud during an entire game-it was awesome, and so far the most memorable game I have been a part of this year. It was an even better feeling to beat a team like that.

Who has had the greatest impact on your life?

My twin sister, Katie has had the greatest impact on my life. If it wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't be the athlete or student I am today. We have been competitive our entire lives and she has pushed and motivated me to always be better--now its my own motivation because I can't stand losing to her. She has always been there for me. I can't thank her enough. Love you Kayjay!

Why did you choose to transfer to Saint Joseph's College?

I decided to transfer here for many reasons. I had visited my sister here many times, and I loved the people. They were very friendly and everyone seemed to love being at the school. Also, at Springfield College, I wanted to play softball as well as basketball, but basketball took up most of my time. St. Joe's is very competitive, but here the coaches I have focus on school before sports and it is less demanding. There is much less pressure on me here than at Springfield, and I am able to concentrate on my studies more.

Can you tell us something about you that most people don't know?

Well, I am 1 of 8 children in my family. I have 4 brothers and 3 other sisters...and my parents are still sane!

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I see myself most likely married, starting a family and having a great job.

If you could meet anyone (past or present) who would it be and why?

That's easy--Jesus. So then he could perform a miracle on me and make me a few inches taller!

What are your hobbies?

I play intramural soccer and softball, I enjoy reading--I am a big Harry Potter fan, and I love playing cards.

What is your ideal day away from your sport?

Just relaxing and hanging out with friends or family.

After College do you still want to participate in your sport?

I would love to continue playing basketball or softball after college, and I definitely want to be a basketball coach someday.

How was your spring trip?

Our spring trip was unbelievable. It was my first time going to Florida so I was excited to begin with. We ended up going 5-5, which is really good for down there, and we had a blast playing in nice weather. We had a lot of fun off the field as well. Our team got really close, we all got along really well, and we have some great memories. Love you girls!!

What are the challenges involved with being a two-sport athlete?

The biggest challenge for me was the end of the basketball season and the beginning of softball practices. It was really hard going from basketball practice right to softball practice, but Coach Smyth was really understanding about missing practices if I had a lot of work to do. It was stressful for a couple weeks because it was hard balancing the 2 sports and my school work, but it was worth it.
