Theresa Hendrix, Junior, Field Hockey & Softball

Theresa Hendrix (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) is a standout two-sport athlete at Saint Joseph’s College. She plays field hockey for Head Coach Rupert Lewis in the fall and appeared in 18 games, including 15 starts, as a top defender in 2011. In the spring, Hendrix plays softball as a pitcher and outfielder for Head Coach Jamie Smyth ’92. After missing the 2011 season with an injury, she enjoyed a phenomenal 2012 campaign, hitting .414 (48-116) with 31 runs, 14 doubles, seven triples, five home runs, and 32 RBI and was dominant as a pitcher, going 4-0 with a pair of saves and 29 strikeouts in 33 innings in the circle. She also tossed the program’s first seven-inning perfect game in a 2-0 win over Saint Joseph (CT) on April 21st. For her efforts on the diamond, Hendrix was selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Week four times and earned First Team All-GNAC, GNAC Tournament Most Valuable Player, and First Team All-ECAC New England accolades.

I chose St. Joe's because of the small community and I wanted to be close to home

PE 101 Instruct Skills & Tech I. Who wouldn't want to run around in the gym for a couple of hours playing fun games?!?

Housekeeper at a motel

A professional photographer – so I can either be in a beautiful place or right up in the action at sporting events.

What is on your "Bucket List?"

To run a marathon and see all the light houses in Maine.

I love #12 because it was always my number in high school.

What is your most memorable moment as an athlete at SJC?

Throwing a perfect game and winning GNAC’s for softball.

Who has had the greatest impact on your life?

My mom, she is the most caring and driven person in my life; and my dad, because he always pushes me to be the best person I can be.

Can you tell us something about you that most people don't know?

I used to knit, and I have a brother, Chris, who is two years older than me, that I used to want to be exactly like when I was younger...fortunately my hair dresser wouldn't shave my head.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I hope to work as a personal trainer for athletes and coaching kids in sports.

If you could meet anyone (past or present) who would it be and why?

John Wooden, he was one of the greatest coaches and by far one of the wisest.

What are your hobbies?

I like to do anything active, and go to any type of sporting event. Also play Sudoku.

What is your ideal day away from athletics?

Either going shopping or going to a pretty place and relaxing for the day (lighthouse, park, beach)

Do you plan on playing sports or coaching after you graduate?

That is my plan, I hope to coach.

What are your personal and team goals for this season?

Team goal is to win our conference in both field hockey and softball. Personal goal is to become a better leader on the field and do whatever it takes to improve my game to help the rest of the team.
