Monks Listed in 2014-15 NCAA Statistical Rankings

STANDISH, Maine - The final 2014-15 NCAA DIII Statistics rankings are now available. Six Saint Joseph’s College teams and 14 individual athletes finished in the top 25 in various categories for their respective sports. In all, the six programs accounted for 19 top-25 rankings while the 14 individuals notched 22 top-25 efforts last year.

 

Highlights of this list include:

  • Basketball senior guard Steve Simonds (Steep Falls, Maine) ranks individually in the top-25 in seven different categories, including three pointers made per game (third, 3.77), total three-pointers made (third, 98) and points per game (ninth, 22.5)
  • Softball senior third baseman Kim Jordan (Bangor, Maine) finished the year ranked eighth in triples (8) and 11th in triples per game (0.21)
  • The SJC Baseball team capped the 2015 campaign with 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings, the second-highest average in NCAA DIII
  • The Monks Women’s Lacrosse program ranked in the top-25 in six different team categories, including winning percentage (fifth, .895), caused turnovers per game (eighth, 13.16), and scoring margin (eighth, 7.89)
  • The Saint Joseph’s Field Hockey team was listed in the top-25 in six categories, including goals against average (seventh, 0.81) and winning percentage (10th, .824)
  • Volleyball junior Felicia Wachowiak (Milton, N.H.) was one of the preeminent blockers in NCAA DIII last fall, ranking 11th in blocks per set (1.21) and 13th in total blocks (135)
