Where did you attend college? Why did you choose to go there?
Boston College! (GO EAGLES!) I chose to go because it was the best fit financially for what I was looking for in a school.
When did you realize you wanted to be a coach?
I sort of just have always done it since I've been 13 or 14... I don't think there was a single moment of realization.
Who is (was) your biggest influence as a coach?
I had both a high school coach and a club coach who've had a great impact on how I view the sport and my coaching philosophies.
What is your most memorable moment as an athlete?
There are many! But the most memorable might be after breaking 1:00 in the 100 FR. I climbed out and looked at the scoreboard and screamed. Three times. I'm embarrassed just thinking about it.
What is your most memorable moment as a coach?
Again, there are many! If I had to pick one, I'd say the 50 FR of my age-group kids' at a champ meet. All season, we had to cheer her on all year by yelling "Use your arms!! Use your arms!!" During that race, though, she was FLYING, no use-your-arms cheer needed, and her face as she climbed out afterwards was priceless.
Your funniest or most embarrassing moment as a coach?
Have you seen me try to use a Go-Pro? Technology is hard.
Favorite Foods: Children's birthday party foods. (Cake & pizza are the way to my heart.)
Favorite Musician: Hozier (Will he be lame by the time this gets posted?)
Most famous person you've met:
I said "Hi!" (and that's it...) when I met Jack Johnson. My friends were not impressed with me.
Something about you that most people don't know?
My C-shaped scar on my leg is from a bike accident when I was living in Boston. Wear a helmet and watch for cars- they do not always watch for you!
Hobbies away from your sport:
Enjoying the outdoors, ultimate Frisbee, exploring cities and traveling, live theater, finding new favorite coffee shops/bakeries/bars and making personalized birthday and holiday cards.
What you look for in a player when recruiting:
Passion for the sport, desire to be part of a team, and a strong work ethic.
What do you do in the offseason?
I will let you know once we enter the off-season. (This is my first year both at SJC and living in Maine!)
How would you describe your coaching philosophy?
Still evolving! But I like to remember that coaching is the business of molding and shaping a whole person, whether it seems like it or not.
