Monks Ranked Eighth in NEIBA Weekly Poll

STANDISH, ME - The seventh New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) weekly poll has been released and Saint Joseph's (30-11, 12-2 GNAC) is ranked eighth for the second consecutive week.

St. Joe's became the third New England Region program, joining Western New England and Endicott College, to reach the 30-win mark with a 1-0 victory over Bowdoin College on Sunday. The Monks have won at least 30 games in five of the last six seasons and eight times in the history of the program.

St. Joe's suffered a sluggish start to the season with a 2-7 spring trip record, but the Monks have gone 28-4 since returning from the southern swing and are currently riding a nine-game win streak.

The Monks claimed the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship, the program's third GNAC title in four years as a member of the conference and, as a result, collected an automatic berth in the NCAA DIII Baseball Tournament. The trip to the NCAA's will be the Monks' fifth in the last six years.

The 2011 NCAA New England Regional Tournament will take place at Whitehouse Field in Harwich, MA and begins on Wednesday, May 18th. Tourney pairings will be announced on Monday, May 16th.
