Whittaker Named ECAC Pitcher of the Week

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's College senior Nick Whittaker (Yarmouth, Maine) has been named as the ECAC New England DIII Pitcher of the Week.

Whittaker, who also earned GNAC Pitcher of the Week honors for the reporting period ending April 13th, allowed an unearned run off three hits while fanning a career-high 13 batters in a 6-1 victory over Anna Maria College on Sunday. The senior righthander has not allowed an earned run with just seven hits allowed and 27 strikeouts over his last 17 innings on the hill.

Whittaker, who is currently 3-1 with a 3.66 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 32 innings, leads the conference in K's and K/9 (12.1) and ranks 14th nationally in the latter category as of April 13th. He is the third SJC hurler since the 2009 season to earn ECAC Pitcher of the Week honors, joining Pat Moran '10 (4/14/09) and Sam Murray '12 (4/20/10) on the short list.

Saint Joseph's (18-8, 9-1 GNAC) hosts Husson University at 3:30 PM this afternoon and takes on GNAC-rival Johnson & Wales University on Friday in a twinbill slated to start at 3:00 PM.
