Monks Compete at Bowdoin College Invitational

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College men's indoor track & field team placed seventh with 10.33 points in the Bowdoin College Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

One of the highlights of the day for Saint Joseph's was sophomore Nick Shuckrow (Winslow, Maine), who shattered his own team 5000-Meter record by nearly 16 seconds with a 16:14.76 time. Jamie Carlson (Jericho, Vt.) was also a bright spot, as the freshman became the first SJC athlete to ever compete in the pole vault and placed ninth with a 3.25m effort and also finished 13th in the triple jump (11.87m).

Junior Billy Brooks (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) was ninth in the 400-Meter (54.69), freshman Lucas Fisher (Strafford, N.H.) placed ninth in the 5000-Meter (16:52.54) and junior Mark McCarraher (Franklin, Mass.) finished 13th in the 400-Meter (55.49).

Senior Faisal Abdillahi (Lewiston, Maine) placed 14th in the 200-Meter (24.20) and sophomore Calvin Field (Windham, Maine) finished 14th in the triple jump (11.62m).

The Monks return to action next Saturday at the University of Southern Maine.
