Michael Sanfilippo, Junior, Soccer

Michael Sanfilippo, Junior, Soccer

Michael Sanfilippo is a junior tri-captain for the men's soccer side and key member of the Monks' midfield. Since arriving to Saint Joseph's in the fall of 2008, the 2009 Third Team All-GNAC selection has played in 55 games and contributed four goals and two assists offensively.

Men's Soccer Head Coach Steve Babineau:

Michael is a leader on and off the field and was selected as a team captain – as a junior –by his teammates.  Michael’s technical ability helps out our midfield tremendously.   We try to play possession soccer and Michael plays a huge role.  We have asked him a number of times to play in the middle and out wide and he has accepted every challenge I’ve put in front of him and has played with a strong work ethic and determination.   Michael is almost like a player-coach, anything you ask he will do for the better of the team.  I look forward to coaching him for the next couple of years.
