Monks Earn ECAC Bid

Standish, ME - After earning their first-ever DIII Independents Northeast Region Championship this weekend, the Saint Joseph's College men's basketball team was rewarded with the second seed for this week's ECAC New England Tournament.

This marks the first-ever ECAC appearance for Saint Joseph's College and they will represent the state of Maine as the only Division III men's basketball team in post-season competition.

The Monks (20-7) will play host to seventh-seeded Roger Williams University (15-10, 10-6) in a first round match-up scheduled for Wednesday, February 28th at 7 PM in the Alfond Center on the campus of Saint Joseph's College.

St. Joe's holds a 5-2 advantage in previous meetings and both teams were 2-0 this season against University of New England and Maine Fort Kent.

The other first round games are #8 Castleton State at #1 Western New England,
#6 Curry at #3 Emerson and #5 Lasell at #4 Endicott.

The first-round winners will advance to the semi-finals which will be at the highest remaining seeds on Friday, March 2. The winner of Western New England/Castleton will face the winner of Endicott/Lasell and the winner of Saint Joseph's College/Roger Williams will face the winner of Emerson/Curry.

The semi-final winners will meet at the highest remaining seed on Saturday, March 3 for the championship.
