Monks Fall Short at Husson

Bangor, ME - Despite a 23 points, 8 rebounds, 9 steals performance by sophomore Elbie Murphy (Loudonville, NY), the Monks dropped an 80-67 decision at Husson last night. Jason Harvey scored a game-high 25 points to secure the victory for the Eagles.

The teams traded baskets over the opening minutes of play, but Husson took advantage of a 9-0 run to take a 12-3 lead early in the first half. The Eagles stretched the lead to 13 with five minutes to play in the half but senior Marcus Alexander (Niceville, FL) and Murphy helped the Monks close the gap to 38-32 at the half.

Chad Pulkinnen (Windham, ME) drilled a three-pointer to bring St. Joe's (2-2) to within 3 to start the second half, but the Monks would get no closer, as the Eagles kept the lead throughout the half.

The Monks had double-digit performances from three other players in addition to Murphy; Alexander and Pulkinnen had 12 and 11 points, respectively, and senior Pat Mileski (Cape Elizabeth, ME) finished with 11 points.

The Monks make their annual trek to "the County" to play at Maine-Presque Isle on Saturday, December 2nd at 3 PM and at Maine-Fort Kent on Sunday, December 3rd at 2 PM.
