Monks Shoot Past Eagles, 112-102

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College hosted GNAC rival Daniel Webster College in a shootout on Saturday, winning 112-102. Monks sophomore forward Ray Eatmon (Huntington, NY) put up a double-double as he scored a season high 17 points and grabbed 21 rebounds, one board shy of the St. Joe's all-time single game record set 21 years ago (Bryan Rubenskas, 22 rebounds vs. Bryant 12/13/86). Junior guard Tim Jackson led the Eagles with 24 points.

Six different Monks reached double digit point totals for St. Joe's. Three starters contributed 10 points or more as Eatmon led SJC with 17 points, JR Scot Vachon (Schenectady, NY) scored 13 points and dished out 7 assists and JR Elbie Murphy (Loudonville, NY) scored 12 points in the game. The players off the bench also played a significant role in the victory as FY Dwight Franklin (Stratford, CT) went 8-9 from the floor and scored 16 points, SO Alberto Rue (Jamaica Plain, MA) sank 5-8 shots and scored 13 and FY Chris Davis (New York, NY) added 12 points on a 6-9 shooting effort.

St. Joe's shot an incredible 57.7% (45-78) from the floor and held the advantage in rebounds by a 53-42 margin in the game.

Saint Joseph's College is 2-4 overall, 1-1 in GNAC play. Daniel Webster is 3-3 overall and also 1-1 in GNAC play. The Monks next play 1/3/08 when they travel to Waterville, ME to take on NESCAC opponent Colby College. Daniel Webster plays Dartmouth College on Saturday, 12/15.
