Wani Takes Home Second GNAC Weekly Honor

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard Remijo Wani (Portland, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the second time this this season.

Wani earned ECSU Invitational All-Tournament honors after averaging 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 2.0 steals in a pair of games in Willimantic on Friday and Saturday. His most impressive output took place against SUNY Poly on Saturday, when he neared triple-double status with 25 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists in a convincing 89-74 victory over the Wildcats.

Through 12 games this winter, Wani is averaging 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 steals while shooting 46.1% (53-115) from the floor, 35.4% (17-48) from three-point distance, and 80.8% (21-26) from the charity stripe. He is currently second on the team in scoring, rebounding, and three-point percentage.

Wani earned the first GNAC weekly award of his career on November 27th.

Saint Joseph's will host Bates College tonight in a non-conference contest at 7:00 PM.
