Grovo Named GNAC Player of the Week

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's junior second baseman Connie Grovo (Limington, Maine) has been chosen as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Player of the Week.

Grovo was phenomenal in a 3-1 week for Saint Joseph's, hitting .733 (11-15) with five runs, a double and eight RBI over four conference contests. She notched a pair of 4-4 performances; including a four-hit effort with the game-winning, walk-off two-run single in a 3-2 triumph over Lasell College on Saturday. The Lasers' pitchers were unable to solve the junior second baseman, as Grovo went 6-7 with two runs and six RBI combined in the GNAC sweep.

Through 18 games for the Monks, Grovo is currently hitting .460 (23-50) with 12 runs, four doubles, a triple, 14 RBI and seven sacrifice hits. She also sports a .580 slugging percentage and a .500 OBP so far this spring.

Saint Joseph's (14-4, 6-2 GNAC) is set to play at Johnson & Wales University on Friday in a GNAC twinbill slated to begin at 3:30 PM.
