Some of his favorite SJC memories - on and off the field:
I remember so many great times spent in the dorms with the guys and multiple lunch sessions in the cafeteria. We all had similar personalities and interest and our friendships helped to create the best camaraderie! We fought for one another and it led to winning seasons. I remember my freshman year with Dave Wellington, Brent Dan, Charlie Buker and how we would hangout at the field and just share stories and memories of baseball, as a younger member of the team it meant a lot that the seniors were willing to take me under their wing. This was something I tried to carry on to the younger classes my senior year, we would go to the field and I would share my stories of the guys before and I believe that is a tradition that still holds true today.
I remember times with Chris Doughty, Nate Leeman, Andrew Wood and Charlie Furbush reminiscing with myself, Jake Rodden, Jack Hughes, Greg Kimball and Andy Exley about the good ol' days (as 18-22 year olds). I feel the best memories though were just being around such fun teammates in the dugout...no better atmosphere on Earth than a baseball dugout!
Notable performances as an SJC athlete:
An outstanding catcher for the Monks’ baseball team for three seasons, McIntosh hit .368 (136-370) with 99 runs, 16 doubles, 17 home runs, 95 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 116 career games. At the time of his induction into the SJC Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018, he ranked fifth in program history in career on-base percentage (.473) and eighth in batting average.
As a senior, McIntosh enjoyed one of the finest offensive seasons in SJC baseball history when he hit .453 (58-128) with 47 runs, six doubles, 10 home runs, and 41 RBI in helping lead the Monks to the 2005 North Atlantic Conference Championship. That spring (2005) he ranked ninth in the country in batting average and earned Conference Co-Player of the Year, First Team NEIBA All-New England, and First Team All-Conference honors and started in the NEIBA Senior All-Star Game at Fenway Park.
After his college baseball career was over, he played 10 years of competitive Men's Softball winning many Regional tournaments, National titles and a World Championship in 2012 – this team was inducted into the New England Softball Hall of Fame.
His current occupation:
Derek is currently an entrepreneur as the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Maine Biofuels Inc., Happy Traps and also Wicked Strong Products and a small General Contracting business. At Maine Biofuels they collect used cooking oil from restaurants around New England and New York and manufacture Biodiesel for use in Municipal Fleets, Casco Bay Ferry Lines, Oakhurst Dairy, Casella Waste and many others. Their fuel is also offered as Heating Oil for Maine and NH homes during the winter (compatible with #2 oil and oil burning furnaces) – the company takes pride in being a leader in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Products.

“My incredible wife Lindsey (Underwood) McIntosh and my three daughters Miya, Maisie, Shia and Baby McIntosh coming March '19 all live in Saco. We love our community and are very active in Basketball and Softball.”

“For fun I like to spend time with family, attend my children's sporting events, visit camp and unwind. I feel blessed to have a successful career and amazing family!”
